Meeka-el and Aqeelah’s story began back in the school corridors of Livingstone High School, where two very different personalities crossed paths, and somehow, instantly clicked. Aqeelah will (reluctantly) admit that she was interested first, a fact Meeka-el is incredibly proud of and has absolutely no plans of ever letting her forget. What started as a school crush quickly became something deeper, built on friendship, laughter, support and an undeniable connection.

From the beginning, they were the definition of “opposites attract.” He is meticulous, analytical, and always has a plan, while she leads with her heart, spontaneous, emotionally driven, and guided by feeling. Yet somehow, those differences became their greatest strength. From being matric ball partners (and now life partners) to navigating university life, growing into adulthood, integrating into each other’s families, and learning what it truly means to grow together, their journey has been one of constant support, patience, and love.

And despite witnessing Meeka-el through many different hair phases over the years, Aqeelah’s love has remained completely unwavering.

Our Engagement

It’s a special kind of joy to say get to marry your high school sweetheart, but an even greater honour to say, with full conviction, that Allah سبحانه وتعالى hand-picked them for one another. Through His guidance and mercy, He kept them on the right path to reach this sacred moment: their Nikāh, and the beginning of their life together. What started in a classroom has blossomed into a lifelong commitment, rooted in faith and love.

Meeka-el and Aqeelah now step into this new chapter choosing each other every day, hoping to build a marriage and a life that they, and their families, will be proud of, keeping Allah سبحانه وتعالى and their Deen at the centre of it all, always.

Our Journey

Alhamdulillah, with Allah’s mercy, our separate paths have been brought together.

Our engagement marks the beginning of a beautiful chapter written by the One who is the best of planners - وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الْمَاكِرِينَ
These moments captured in our photos reflect gratitude, love, and the blessing of two souls being guided toward a halal union.

Our Intention

We intend to build a marriage rooted in faith, mercy, and tranquility, as Allah describes in the Qur’an:

وَمِنْ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦٓ أَنْ خَلَقَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًۭا لِّتَسْكُنُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهَا وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَكُم مَّوَدَّةًۭ وَرَحْمَةً ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ ٢١.

“…so that you may find tranquility in one another; and He placed between you affection and mercy.” (Surah Ar-Rum 30:21)

As we prepare for our Nikāh, we ask Allah to fill our future with barakah, patience, and a love that brings us closer to Him.
